In a bizarre and deeply unsettling case that has baffled both authorities and the public, an 11-year-old boy named Jacob Pritchett has been missing for nearly two months — but what’s most disturbing is that his own mother insists that he doesn’t exist.

The case began in Austin, Texas, when neighbors reported not seeing Jacob for several weeks. According to police, the boy was last seen playing in the front yard of his family’s home in mid-August. Since then, there has been no trace of him — no school attendance, no social activity, no hospital or digital records of any kind.

When investigators arrived at the residence to question his mother, Danielle Pritchett, her response shocked everyone. “There is no Jacob,” she allegedly told detectives. “I don’t have a son.”

Authorities initially believed the woman was confused or in distress, but as the search intensified, the mystery only deepened. Police were unable to locate any official records — no birth certificate, medical history, or school enrollment under the name “Jacob Pritchett.” Yet multiple neighbors, teachers, and even relatives confirmed that Jacob was a real child who had been living at the home.

“He was always polite, always riding his bike around,” said a neighbor who lives across the street. “To hear that his mom is saying he doesn’t exist… it’s terrifying.”

The investigation quickly escalated as detectives began combing through years of social media posts, medical logs, and local databases. While Danielle’s online profiles showed family photos and references to “my son Jacob” up until a year ago, all posts related to him have since been deleted. Even more disturbing, several of her accounts were reportedly wiped clean the same week Jacob vanished.

Authorities say that Danielle’s mental state has come under scrutiny. “We are working to determine whether we’re dealing with a mental health crisis or an intentional act of concealment,” said Chief Martin Alvarez during a press conference. “What we can say for certain is that people knew this child — and now, he’s gone.”

Investigators have also questioned other family members, including Jacob’s grandmother, who confirmed his existence but claims she hasn’t seen him since early summer. “Something’s wrong,” she told reporters. “Jacob is real. That’s my grandson. I just want him found.”

Despite the lack of records, law enforcement remains confident that Jacob is a real missing person. They have since released digitally recreated images to aid in the search, along with a plea to the public for any information that could help locate him.

The case has captured national attention for its eerie and contradictory details, with many online calling it “one of the strangest missing person mysteries in years.”

As the search continues, police are urging anyone with knowledge about Jacob’s whereabouts to come forward immediately. “This is about finding a child who may be in danger,” Chief Alvarez said. “Regardless of what’s being said, we know someone out there has the answers.”
