A tragic and baffling case is unfolding after a young mother reportedly crashed her car while FaceTiming 911, and her 3-month-old baby disappeared from the scene before emergency responders arrived.

The terrifying incident happened late Tuesday night along a dark stretch of Highway 84, just outside Montgomery County. Authorities say the woman, whose name has not yet been released, had been driving alone with her infant when she suddenly called 911 via video, visibly distressed.

“She appeared panicked and disoriented,” said Lieutenant Aaron Cole, the responding officer. “Dispatchers could see her on video, crying, saying something about losing control of the car — and then the screen went black.”

Moments later, multiple 911 calls came in from passing drivers reporting a severe single-vehicle crash. When deputies arrived, they found the woman’s car flipped on its side with the airbags deployed. The driver was conscious but hysterical, screaming for her baby.

“The mother was in shock, asking where her child was,” said Cole. “But when officers searched the car, the baby seat was empty.”

Investigators immediately launched a search for the missing infant, sweeping the area with K9 units, drones, and infrared cameras. Shockingly, there was no sign of the baby anywhere near the crash site — no footprints, no drag marks, and no sign of abduction at the scene.

Officials are now piecing together what may have happened in the minutes before and after the crash. According to GPS data and witness accounts, the woman had been driving erratically and might have been attempting to flee another vehicle. Detectives are reviewing highway surveillance footage to determine whether another car was involved.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of foul play. “There are still more questions than answers,” said Sheriff Melanie Price during a press briefing. “Right now, our focus is on locating the child safely and understanding the sequence of events leading to this tragedy.”

The mother, who was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, remains under observation. Investigators say she has been cooperating but appears deeply traumatized. “She keeps asking, ‘Did someone take my baby?’ over and over,” said a hospital staff member.

Social media has erupted with speculation after footage surfaced online showing the wrecked vehicle and the distraught mother still clutching her phone, apparently continuing to FaceTime 911 even after the crash. Many are demanding answers — and accountability.

Meanwhile, local volunteers and rescue crews continue to comb wooded areas near the highway, using heat sensors and drones to search for any trace of the infant.

Authorities have asked anyone traveling through Highway 84 near Exit 22 between 10:15 and 10:45 p.m. to review their dashcam footage.

“This is every parent’s nightmare,” said Lt. Cole. “We won’t rest until that baby is found.”

As of this morning, the search remains ongoing — and the haunting question still lingers: how could a baby vanish from a crash site in minutes?
