Some teenagers buy a car. Some teenagers buy rims. And then there’s one teen who decided to buy… a fake police cruiser.

Yes, you read that right. A recently surfaced bodycam video shows the surreal moment when officers pulled over a young driver—only to discover he was behind the wheel of what looked suspiciously like a fully decked-out cop car. The twist? The teen wasn’t a cop, had no connection to law enforcement, and admitted he’d “just bought it online.”

The encounter started like any other traffic stop. Officers noticed the suspicious vehicle driving late at night, complete with siren lights, black-and-white paint, and even decals that could confuse the average person into thinking it was legit. But something seemed off.

When officers approached the car, the driver nervously stepped out, clearly not expecting his “purchase” to attract actual police attention so quickly. One officer can be heard saying: “You know impersonating a police officer is a crime, right?”

The teen, trying to explain himself, insisted he wasn’t pretending to be an officer. Instead, he said he just thought the car looked “cool” and bought it cheap from a reseller. But his explanation didn’t do him any favors, especially since the car still had functioning emergency lights.

The internet, of course, went wild with reactions:

  • “Imagine getting pulled over… by the same job you were fake-playing.”
  • “Bro unlocked the ‘cop car DLC’ and got arrested for it.”
  • “That moment when your GTA roleplay leaks into real life.”

Legal experts chimed in, too, clarifying that even owning a vehicle designed to mimic police cruisers can land someone in serious trouble—especially if used in public spaces. While it’s not always illegal to purchase ex-police vehicles, modifying them to look and function like active cruisers crosses into dangerous territory.

Ultimately, officers confiscated the car and are investigating whether the teen had already used it to intimidate or mislead others. So far, he’s facing possible charges of impersonating an officer, illegal vehicle modifications, and misuse of emergency equipment.

The viral moment has since been shared thousands of times, with many calling it one of the most “embarrassing rookie mistakes” ever caught on police bodycam.

As one top comment put it: “He bought the car thinking he’d look cool. Instead, he bought himself a one-way ticket into police custody.”
