Police say a womanβs plan to score a high-end Rolex watch worth over $12,000 fell apart in spectacular fashion when she was caught using a fake ID and a fraudulent credit card.
According to investigators, she entered a luxury jewelry store and confidently picked out the pricey timepiece, attempting to pass herself off as someone else. But the storeβs verification process flagged her ID as suspicious, and staff discreetly alerted authorities.
When officers arrived, they quickly confirmed the ID and credit card were both fraudulent. The woman was taken into custody on the spot, facing charges of identity theft, credit card fraud, and attempted grand larceny.
Police say this isnβt her first run-in with the lawβshe may be linked to other luxury theft attempts in the area.
