Authorities in [City Name] have arrested a 75-year-old woman after police discovered 175 dogs living in what officials described as “disturbing and inhumane” conditions. The arrest came after multiple complaints from neighbors about foul odors, constant barking, and concerns for animal welfare.
When officers executed a search warrant, they found dogs crammed into cages, many without food, clean water, or adequate ventilation. The smell of ammonia was so strong that officers had to wear protective masks upon entering the property. Several dogs were suffering from untreated medical conditions, malnutrition, and severe matting of fur.
Animal control teams worked through the night to safely remove the dogs, transporting them to various shelters for immediate care. Veterinarians on site said it could take months for many of the animals to recover physically and emotionally from the neglect.
The woman now faces multiple counts of animal cruelty and is being held without bail pending further investigation. Authorities are also looking into whether the case is connected to an illegal breeding operation.
